Resonance of a structure with soil elastic waves released in non-linear hysteretic soil upon unloading

Abstract High-frequency motion is often observed in small-scale experimental works carried out flexible containers under simplified seismic loading conditions when single harmonic sine input motions are introduced at the base of a soil specimen. The source high-frequency has been sought inaccuracies. On other hand, most recent numerical studies suggested that steady-state dynamic response subjected to excitation can also be generated as result elastic waves released non-linear hysteretic upon unloading. This work presents an example finite element study on soil–structure interaction representative setup from past. results show how response, apparently waves, affects structure, is, it presented structure analysed case resonates with waves. findings verified against benchmark indicate similar patterns structure.
